1st Annual Longfellow Chili Cook Off is a Success!

The Staff at Longfellow kicked off their 2018 United Way Campaign on October 3, 2018 with the First Annual Longfellow Chili Cook Off.  Judges and Special Guests included:  Key People/RCPS United Way Building Coordinators from our schools, Caprice Hover (Executive Director, United Way of Rutland County), Jona Farwell (Associate Director, United Way of Rutland County), Rob Kurchena (Rutland City Public Schools Board of Directors) and folks from the Information Technology Department and the Department of Buildings, Grounds and Transportation.  We collected $200 in our donation jar and also another $510 in Direct Donations and Pledges.  We’re off to a GREAT start!  

Assistant Superintendent Rob Bliss serves up some chili.  RCPS Commissioner Rob Kurchena likes the spice!

Data Analyst, Molly Wasserman and Executive Director of Tapestry and EPIC, Kate Bosnich joined in the fun.

AND the Winners are:

  • In 4th Place Kristi Firliet (Assistant to the CFO) for “Pantry Chili”
  • In 3rd Place Mary Ann Welch (Administrative Assistant, Assistant Superintendent’s Office) for “Fiona’s Feisty Chicken Chili”
  • In 2nd Place Patricia Aigner (Director of Instructional Technology) for “Hen & Pablano Chili”


 The 2018 Longfellow Chili Cook Off Champion is:  Superintendent Adam Taylor for “Straight Out of Oakland”

 Winners received “Bragging Rights” and an exclusive trophy/painted wooden spoon.
