Parents
Dear Parents,
Technology is an integral part of our educational programming in the Rutland City Public Schools. All students have access to Chromebooks and the rcpsvt.org Google Domain. These tools allow teachers to differentiate and personalize learning through content, process and product. Teachers reference the International Society for Technology in Education Standards for both Students and Teachers as they integrate technology into the curriculum.
Our district uses technology to help empower learners and showcase student voices. And, technology is an important tool for innovation! RCPS students use technology to identify, research, and document problems as well as provide solutions. Using technology they express themselves with purpose in writing, visually, orally, and through the design of physical objects like robots and 3D printed buildings.
Whether it is a Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide, students can produce outstanding products which they can continue working on at home, just by logging in to the Google Domain rcpsvt.org. And students can use phones to connect to their drive too, by downloading Google Apps. Google Apps for Android | Google Apps for IOS
We believe that technology should be hands-on and engaging, not solely about traditional products. We provide STEAM/STEM/Maker Space opportunities in grades K-12. Our spaces allow students to engage in design and computation thinking, creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning through programming, computer-aided design software, green screen video, animation, dye cutters, plotters, robots, circuitry, a laser cutter, hand tools, and 3D printers. We are so proud that our students compete in statewide and regional STEM and robotics contests.
